After weeks of speculation, Bayern Munich finally found their forward reinforcement, as they recently finalized the addition of Luis Diaz from Liverpool. The Colombian winger is their third notable addition this summer, and Diaz will certainly play a pivotal role in Die Bayern’s Bundesliga title defence next term.
Given his Premier League credentials, Diaz is expected to do great things at the Allianz Arena, similar to how Michael Olise fared in his first full season with the Bavarian giants. Diaz’s addition is a classic case of the rich getting richer.
Speaking of searching for attacking reinforcements, Borussia Dortmund plan to do the same this summer to improve their Bundesliga 2025 odds of contending for the Meisterschale next season. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen are in danger of losing another key player following the recent departure of Granit Xhaka.

Bayern Munich confirm Diaz’s arrival
Bayern Munich needed some attacking reinforcements this summer following the departures of Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller, so they went and signed Luis Diaz. According to reports, Bayern have agreed to pay a fixed fee of €70 million, plus €5 million in add-ons for the former Liverpool man, who’s expected to play on the wings alongside Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Harry Kane.
Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022, and he still had two years left on his contract. The Colombian winger has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances, including 13 as the Reds won the Premier League last season. He was put on the chopping block (alongside Darwin Nunez) when he said he wanted to leave. Selling Diaz was the right move for Liverpool because his proceeds can help fund their pursuit of Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
Before confirming the addition of Diaz, Bayern Munich were after Nick Woltemade, but their negotiations with VfB Stuttgart bogged down. Die Bayern also signed Jonathan Tah on a free transfer and Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim, and they plan to offer Sven Ulreich a new one-year extension to continue being Manuel Neuer’s backup goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, former Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller recently agreed to join Major League side Vancouver Whitecaps, and youngster Adam Aznou has joined Everton.
Borussia Dortmund continue to seek attacking reinforcements
Since acquiring Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland, Borussia Dortmund have yet to name their second signing this summer. BVB also sold Jamie Gittens to Chelsea for a transfer fee worth around £48.5 million plus the potential for a further £3.5 million in add-ons, and now they’re looking at Carney Chukwuemeka as his potential replacement.

After a decent loan stint last season, Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign Chukwuemeka, who scored one goal in 17 appearances, on a permanent transfer from Chelsea. However, the Yellow Wall didn’t activate Chukwuemeka’s €35 million option to buy and haggled for a lower price with Chelsea. After talks had bogged down, Chelsea reportedly reduced their asking price for the 21-year-old winger to around €25 million. However, Juventus could join the race and engage in a bidding war with Borussia Dortmund.
In other news, Borussia Dortmund are reportedly monitoring Leandro Trossard and Jadon Sancho. Trossard is under contract with Arsenal until 2027. But his lack of opportunities in North London is a growing concern following the Gunners’ addition of Noni Madueke and the extension of Ethan Nwaneri.
As for Sancho, BVB could be interested in another reunion after a successful six-month loan stint last year, and they will likely have to pay around €20 million to Manchester United to make his return to Signal Iduna Park permanent.
Bayer Leverkusen might lose more players
Bayer Leverkusen have been on a serious rebuild this summer under manager Erik ten Hag. While they sold Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Odilon Kossounou, Die Werkself managed to acquire Jarell Quansah, Malik Tillman, and Mark Flekken, among others. However, Bayer Leverkusen may not be done yet this summer, as they’re in danger of losing one more key player.
Granit Xhaka, an influential presence in their midfield, is finalizing his deal to join Sunderland, and Amine Adli could follow suit. According to reports, Bayer Leverkusen agreed to sell Xhaka to Sunderland for €20 million, and they’re okay with letting go of Adli, whose priority is to come to England.
On the other hand, Bayer Leverkusen recently completed the acquisition of Farid Alfa-Ruprecht from Manchester City for a reported fee of only €5 million. The 19-year-old winger is viewed as a potential breakout candidate under ten Hag with his pace, creativity, and work rate.
